Playlistify is a small, independently run music player. This page explains what it keeps about you, why, where it is stored, who can see it and how to remove it. It does not show ads, does not sell or share your data with advertisers, and does not use third-party analytics or tracking.
Your account: your email address, your password (kept only as a one-way hash, never readable), your display name, handle and bio, a profile photo if you add one, and your privacy settings.
What you do in the app: the playlists you make or share, songs you like, what you play (used for recently played, your listening stats, Your Year and recommendations), friends and partner connections, people you block, songs and notes you send, song memories, time capsules, guess-the-song duels, Discover votes, messages in listening rooms, and recordings you submit through Share your music.
Without an account: a random identifier in a cookie, so the playlists and likes you make stay linked to your browser.
On your own device only: player settings such as volume and your queue, your light or dark theme choice, and any songs you save for offline listening. These stay in your browser and are never sent to Playlistify.
Only to run the features you use: signing you in, keeping your playlists and history, showing your profile to the people you choose, delivering messages, and sending account emails such as verification and password-reset links. By creating an account you consent to this, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your account.
One cookie keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days. Another links anonymous playlists to your browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Playlistify relies on a few services to run, and your data passes through them only for that purpose:
Some of these services store data outside India.
Playlistify connects to Google Drive only for the site administrator's own Google account, to store and stream the music library. It never asks listeners to connect a Google account, and it has no access to any listener's Google data.
Your profile, playlists, listening stats and activity are visible according to the privacy settings on your Account page: to everyone, to friends only, or to no one. Songs and notes you send, and time capsules, are seen only by the person you send them to. Each song memory follows the visibility you choose for it. People you block cannot find or contact you.
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists and is removed when you delete it. The hosting services keep short-lived technical logs for their own operation. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, sign-in uses secure cookies that page scripts cannot read, and all traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but your data is handled with care.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask for a summary of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, withdraw your consent, and raise a grievance. Most of this you can do yourself: edit your profile on the Account page, or delete your account there. For anything else, email nearveil@gmail.com.
Deleting your account from the Account page removes your account and everything tied to it: your profile and photo, playlists, likes, listening history, connections and blocks, songs and notes you sent or received, memories, time capsules, duels, Discover votes, your listening-room messages and any rooms you host, and submissions that have not been published.
If you shared your own recordings and the administrator published them, those songs stay in the library, credited to you, until you ask for them to be removed.
Playlistify is meant for people aged 18 and over, or younger people using it with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child is using it without that permission, email us and their data will be removed.
Privacy questions and complaints are handled by the Grievance Officer, at nearveil@gmail.com. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
